i entered a dental school where the prevailing belief was that in order to truely prepare one for the dental profession,it was necessary to make it as difficult and stressful as humanly possible.not only was success equated with information,but it logically followed that the more difficult it was to aquire that information,the more prepared one should be to succeed.the constant threat of failing inflicted by those who themselves had survived a similar initiation(apparently giving them the right to pass it on to others)
was necessary to make sure we ,the students,were 'ready'to take our places in this hallowed profession.sure enough all of the additional information prepared me to enter dental profession with the competency needed to carry out my chosen occupation.for the next 3 years ,this is exactly what i have to do
